The 2017 Mountain Biking Team put in hundreds of miles this season, riding the trails at Cheyenne Canon, Cheyenne Mountain State Park, the Chutes, Bear Creek Park, Red Rocks, and the Castle Rock Ridgeline. With a young, inexperienced, Kodiak squad, there was a lot of room for improvement, and the emphasis was placed on road safety, technique, bike maintenance, and persevering through challenges.
Coach Kimball Bayles added, “Mountain biking is the best sport for teaching grit and perseverance. Starting from scratch with this young team, they shed some blood, sweat, and tears this season. The confidence gained from getting them outside their comfort zones was extremely rewarding.”
He concluded, “Coach Tim Ferguson and I are already looking forward to next season when this team has another year of experience and more mileage on their bikes. We will be able to take off where we left off.”

A special thank you to the Reid family for the donation of the new bike trailer, making the trips to state parks and off-campus trails possible.
