CSS proudly supports our student-athletes who compete beyond the playing fields on our campus. Some sports are not offered at CSS; thus, CHSAA rules allow them to compete for other schools. Because CSS does not have a swim team (or pool for that matter), Annika W. ’18 and Peyton M. ’19 have been swimming for the Fountain Valley School, competing for the successful Dane swim team. Annika has always loved the water, and her career as a high school swimmer is coming to an end with a chance to compete against the best swimmers in Colorado. On Feb. 8-9, Annika will compete in the state swim meet in the 400 Freestyle Relay at the Veteran’s Memorial Aquatics Center in Thornton, CO.
“Swimming has always been a part of my life, and I don’t think that will change anytime soon. It was challenging at first to join a team and hope to fit in with girls who go to school together every day, but they were so welcoming and have become a second family to me. I don’t think I will ever be on a team quite like this one again. I’ve had moments where I couldn’t stop smiling at competition results, and results that have brought me close to tears, and I am thankful for every second of these four years,” added Annika.
