Multiple Teams · Soccer Loses in OT 2-3: State Tournament Still Within Reach

Boddington Field was the place to be Saturday afternoon for some exciting soccer action, hot dogs, and a taste of summer.  Their third game in three days put the Kodiaks to the test.  An early goal by Ali G. ’18 and another by Blayse S. ’21 to start the second half was not enough to hold off a 2-0 charge by the Highlanders from the Thomas MacLaren School in regulation time to tie the game.  A second OT was needed to decide the game, and the Kodiaks came up short on several attempts leaving the door open for another goal by the opponents in red who won 3-2.

With a 4-9-1 record, the Kodiaks still have a shot at advancing to the first round of the 2A state tournament.  In all likelihood, they will play away on Tuesday, May 8, and the site is TBD.  After the game today, Coach Mark Perdew acknowledged each player, awarded varsity letters, and distributed several awards:

Most Versatile Player:  Kylie C. ’20

Best Defensive Player:  Autumn C. ’20

Best Offensive Player:  Katherine H. ’19

Kodiak Coaches’ Award:  Ali G. ’18
