CSS does not offer girls’ golf, so Kate G. ’20 has played high school golf for the Cougars at Coronado H.S., helping them to back-to-back Metro League Championships. During May’s extreme weather conditions, Kate shot an 83 to place 6th at the state tournament while the team placed fifth in the 4A tournament – the top finish for the Colorado Springs area. Kate was also crowned the Colorado Springs Metro League champion and the Cougars finished first at Regionals for the second year.
The Gazette honored the areas top athletes this week with their Peak Performers publication, and to no surprise Kate was voted the top girls’ golfer for the year. All 32 athletes were honored for their outstanding athleticism Tuesday night at the Pinery at the Preps Peak Performer banquet. Kate was in her element as she graced the stage with other elite athletes from Colorado Springs, many of whom will take their talents to the collegiate level. Kate remains undecided about her future as a collegiate golfer, but luckily for CSS and Coronado H.S., she still has another year to make a decision while continuing to impact both sports programs.
